The Chronicles of Latcarf

While Sparkkplug was helping me increase my skill at being a Beastmaster, we ran into a Notorious Monster! The Funguar was named Tumbling Truffle.

It would have been impossible for me to take him on at level 15, but with Sparkkplug keeping me healthy, I decided to try to take the Truffle down!

It took a long time as each of my hits were only doing ten points of damage or so. After a while, I'd defeated him but I didn't get anything from him at all, save 200 experience points.

Oh, well I guess - better luck next time. It's rare that I ever meet a Notorious Monster face to face and it's even more rare that I actually get any loot from one - this time was no exception. I can't balk at 200 experience points though! That helped me get to level 16 and that's a good thing!

Sparkkplug helped me out quite a bit in the last week. While trying to get better at being a Beastmaster, I kept getting knocked out. I think I am a little too ambitious when it comes to fighting monsters and I still have a bit of trouble when my pets turn on me.

With all the knockouts, my Beastmaster job was getting a bit tedious. This is where my brother Sparkkplug came in. While I was fighting in Funguar alley (starting deep in the ravine at H-6 on the La Theine Plateau map), he joined me and kept me cured while I fought tough beasts!. Since he's a level 31 White Mage now, this was not a problem for him and he kept with me for a good couple of days.

The culmination of all the effort came when I finally reached level 16! I was very happy and grateful to Sparkkplug for all of the help!

I sold my bronze bed and decided I didn't like sleeping on the floor again. So, I forked over a good 90,000 gil to buy a mahogany bed. A bit costly, but I must say it's been some great night's sleeps!

I found out just the other day that once again, my Mog has been sleeping on the bed while I've been away (I wondered where those white hairs came from!). He told me he was again homesick and he decided he wanted to return to his parents. As you probably guessed, he also asked for some gifts once again. I was fairly tapped out from the cost of the bed but all my Moogle needed was a stick of Selbina butter and a shrimp lure. It cost me less that 9000 gil so I purchased the items for him.

After he came back from his parents, he brought back a larger mog safe with a total capacity of 70 items! For that, I was very grateful - but I have to admit that I missed him for a few days.

I hit 28 fishing skill the other day! As soon as I did I ran to the fishing guild in Port Windurst (well, teleported to the Crag of Mea, and then ran ). The Guildmaster told me that I needed to bring a giant catfish to prove my skill.

I remembered an old fisherman who told me I could find giant catfish in Lake Mechieume in Jugner Forest (H-5 on the map). I ran there as fast as I could (well, I teleported to the Crag of Holla, and then ran ). After casting my line with a bit of insect paste and catching a few moat carp, I decided this was not the way to catch catfish (a bottom feeding fish).

I was back to action today! I put on my scale armor, got Signet cast on me by a Temple Knight and ran out to La Theine Plateau to battle beasts! I was only there a little when an Orcish Neckchopper beat me senseless.

So I teleported back to my Home Point and set out again with gusto! Hurrah!! I ran all the way back to La Theine Plateau near the entrance to Valkurm Dunes. Started battling and was again beat senseless by an Orcish Neckchopper.

Well, I guess it wasn't my day. I returned to my Mog House and laid down on my luxurious mahogany bed. Maybe I'll just relax here for a while longer...
