The Chronicles of Latcarf

Imagine that. After all this time trying to catch Bhefhel Marlins to break clothespoles, today Bhefhel Marlins were the fishing guild "catch of the day." So, once again I was on the ferry with cold, salt air stinging my face. The catch was pretty easy. I only needed six and ended up with nine fish on one Selbina - Mhaura round trip. Surprisingly, the big guys were biting pretty frequently even though it was only a waxing gibbous moon. Not bad for a days work and a welcome break from practicing my ninjitsu.

I still had a few left over Bhefhel Marlins from the last clothespole breaking fishing trip I was on so I decided to take a break from Ninjitsu training and head over to Selbina to visit Zaldon again.

It must have been luck that I did. I really hadn't expected him to find anything when he gutted these fish. After all, I'd already found a Pirate's Chart in one of the marlins he gutted for me previously. But this time, as luck would have it, Zaldon found a "Brigand's Chart" in the second fish I gave him! Since I only had five Bhefhel Marlins to begin with, I decided to put the other three up for sale right there in the Fishing Guild.

I'm growing curious as to what treasures I might find from these two charts. I'm even more curious how these fish came about eating them in the first place - but I'd rather leave that unknown.

I'm sure whatever awaits me at the X that marks the spot in these charts is dangerous. I probably need to get my brother Sparkkplug's help. Following an unknown chart from "inside the belly" of a fish is both adventurous and a little insane! Who knows though, maybe untold riches await.

I finally fixed enough clothespoles to raise my Woodworking skill just enough that I can't learn anymore by fixing more clothespoles (that was alot of damn clothespoles!). So, after selling off my clothespoles, I decided to take a break from fishing for a bit and see what I can do instead.

Back in my Mog House I started rummaging around a bit and found some old scrolls a guy names Ensetsu had given me for a favor I'd done for him. The scrolls contained teachings of the Tenshodo - the famous Ninjitsu clan. After reading a little, I thought I might as well train some and see where it could get me.

After donning my old Elvaan gear, I went down to the auction house in Port San'dOria and picked up a Kunai (a Katana sword) and then headed out to North Gustaberg for some light training. After a while of this, I felt my Ninja skills increasing. I found that using my Beastmaster skills while training as a Ninja was really effective. I think Ninjitsu is a worthy subject for my study and I'll most likely keep it up - for a little while at least - until I begin to miss the salt air of the ferry!

I got to do some brief fishing in East Sarutabaruta at Lake Tepokalipuka (F-9 on the map).

The fishing guild catch of the day was crescent fish so with a little hand-tied fly lure, I plucked five of those fish out of the lake. Nice thing was that it was a full moon so the fish were biting like crazy. It made for a very brief fishing excursion!

Like a never ending story, I was out on the ferry for an eternity recently trying to break more clothespoles. The thing about fishing poles is: they never break when you want them to and always break when you don't have a spare.

So I took a few ferry trips, stayed up all night and fished while staring into the dawn sun. I caught about half a stack of Bhefhel Marlins and fortunately they were the catch of the day so I turned them straight over to Fennella for some guild points.

As I was running through Port Windurst on the way to the Fishing Guild, I happened to see Zoop - a fellow fisherman. After a little chat I found out Zoop has already attained Veteran fisherman status while I've been sitting in my mog house! That's quite an accomplishment and very impressive and I was happy to hear his skill has increased so much. After our short talk, we went our separate ways but will probably keep in touch to do some fishing on the ferry someday.

No matter what I'm doing on any given day, it's always great to see an old friend or make a new one. That's one of the things that brought me back to adventuring.
