I talked to Endracion (San d'Oria West Gate Guard) today and received a new mission. He explained that I would have to go, once again, to that terrible place Davoi. He told me to go talk to Prince Trion, which I did at once.
The Prince explained to me the situation. It seems the Royal Knights had been working on a report but Quemaricond, the man with the final report had not yet returned from Davoi. Prince Trion was in great need of the information contained in the report. I told him I could help, even though memories of my first visit to Davoi were haunting me. With a little hesitation I made sure all my gear was in order and set out on chocobo toward Jugner Forest.
The ride through West Ronfaure was mostly through fog and visibility was poor. I trusted the haughty chocobo underneath me and pressed on. Entering La Theine Plateau I was greeted with a cold down pour. The rain bit my face like small blades as I urged the chocobo on at a fierce pace. In no time I was entering Jugner Forest.
In Jugner, the rain persisted and more fog made it hard to see. I almost ran into some Forest Tigers as I worked my way through the dense trees to Davoi. I got a little sidetracked and wound up running into a stone monument. I didn't know there was one here in Jugner. The Mayor of Selbina asked me to imprint as many of these as I could find but I could not get sidetracked from the mission at hand. Capturing an imprint of the monument would have to wait.
Finally, I came upon the gates of Davoi. The feeling of the place and the Orcs roaming around the gates made me shudder and I almost considered turning back. I told myself that I was much stronger and wiser than I was the first time I came here and that helped me muster my confidence.
I dismounted my chocobo and watched her run off into the distance with much regret for letting her go. I slowly moved into the wretched gates of Davoi. Just inside the gates, I saw the Goblin Lootblox and I decided to sit near him for a moment while I collected my thoughts and my courage.
I realized that the best way to get through Davoi to Quemaricond was without disturbing any Orcs. I would have to remain unseen and unheard. It's a good thing I decided to do this mission as a White Mage because I could do just that! I cast Sneak and Invisible on myself and I ran east toward Quemaricond's location.
About the time my Invisible spell started wearing off, I reached a safe point where no Orcs were around. I rested here to regain my MP and when I was ready again, I re-cast Sneak and Invisible and ran the rest of the way to Quemaricond.
After talking with Quemaricond and receiving the report, I quickly re-cat invisible and sneak and I ran out of Davoi. The rest was easy as I ran all the way back to San d'Oria. I was rewarded with rank and the happiness of finishing an assignment!
Still hating Davoi,
