On my way out of Upper Jeuno, I saw Luto Mewrilah (who had introduced me to Tsuim). I stopped to chat with her. She asked me if I was going to Windurst and asked Tsuim and I to do her a favor and find a book from the library that might help her repair the
broken mirror I gave her. Of course, Tsuim couldn't fathom why in the world Luto would want to fix the mirror but I understood the potential value that mirror had. As a collector, so did Luto.

Luto described the rare metal the mirror is made of and asked us to get every last bit of information we could that might help her. It seemed like this was going to be much more involved than a simple errand to Windurst in search of a book!
In the north area of Windurst Waters, I stepped into the Opistery to talk with Tosuka-Porika with whom I'd spoken before. I told him what I was looking for and he pondered a bit (librarians are so strange). While I was talking to Tosuka, Tsuim browsed the book shelves. Tosuka finally mentioned that Ritopopo was looking for a book containing similar information. We went over to talk with Ritopopo about the book:
Looking Glass Legends. She was hesitant to let us borrow it.
She mentioned that it's always nice to present the minister with some kind of gift but that she was too shy to do it herself. She also said that the minister talked about a big meal which included: a loaf of white bread, a bowl of whitefish stew, a Windurst salad, a serving of bison steak, a serving of icecap rolanberry and a pot of San d'Orian tea to finish it off. Ritopopo said she felt indebted to the minister for helping her during her research and, if we could prepare the items, she'd loan us the book.
After Tsuim and I got a hold of all the items through the Cooking Guild, Auction House and a vendor in Jeuno, we returned to the Opistery and handed them over to Tosuka-Porika. Of course he wondered where all the food came from and why we'd given it to him. Ritopopo came upon us and told us that she had read the book while we were preparing the meal. She talked about two mirrors that were the opposite of each other.

One is the "Mirror of Blighted Gloom" and the other is the "Mirror of Blessed Radiance." After explaining all about the book, Ritopopo ate the meal we'd given to Tosuka! How about that!? Like I said, librarians are so weird - and the Tarutaru... well, don't get me started. Anyway, Tsuim and I got the book and decided to head back to Jeuno to see if we could talk to Luto again.
From reading the book,
Looking Glass Legends, we gathered that the mirror Luto had was the "Mirror of Blighted Gloom." The book certainly had abundant information on how to fix the mirror (in fact, it revealed how to
create an enchanted mirror), but there was one thing we didn't know how to do.

The last step in mirror creation calls for a secret chant know only by a select few - the mirror guardians. Tsuim suggested that maybe the
girl we helped in the Eldieme Necropolis might be able to help us. We went to Port Jeuno and asked Khumo Daramasteh, a guard there, if she'd seen the girl. She pointed out Palometa who was not far from us, talking to her mother. Tsuim and I went over to speak with her and learned that her father was indeed one of the mirror guardians. She'd been looking for the mirror Luto had ever since her father died and the mirror was stolen! It was while searching for the mirror that she was led by a stranger into the Eldieme Necropolis where Tsuim and I rescued her.
Palometa's father taught her the secret chant and she agreed to help us. Luto kindly agreed to give Palometa the mirror back if we were successful in repairing it. Luto said that she'd again need our help to find the rare metal needed for the repair. Somehow I feel cautious about Luto's intentions, but I'll continue to help her if Tsuim feels it's ok.
