Sunday, March 20. 2005The Rivalry/The Competition
I was down in Port San d'Oria the other day fishing for moat carp with my friend Matronic. We talked to two brothers fishing there on the pier (H-8 on the map) and found they are having a competition. They are trying to see who can get the most moat and forest carp. Each brother asked for our help.
I decided to help Joulet and Matronic decided to help Gallijaux. They said they'd pay us 10 gil for each moat carp we catch (which is not so good because you can sell the carp at the Auction House for at least 400 gil a piece). Well, we (Matronic and I) have heard that you might be able to get the legendary "Lu Shang's" fishing rod if you give one of the brothers 10,000 carp (either moat or forest). That's quite a bit of fishing but Lu Shang's rod is only suceptible to breakage on 10 fish worldwide! On top of that, legend has it that the rod is capable of catching a mythical sea monster... I guess my decision to be a professional angler might come in handy for this quest! I just can't imagine how long it will take me to catch 10,000 moat carp. That just seems an astronomical number.

I've finally caught 1000 moat carp for Joulet! That means I am 1/10th of the way to getting Lu Shang's fishing rod. This is pretty slow going but I will persevere and finish the quest. I can't wait until that rod is mine!

I have caught 2000 of the 10,000 fish I need for the Rivalry. I am a little tired of fishing right now, but after a brief rest I'll be right back into my favorite pastime!

I've gotten 3000 of the 10,000 total moat carp need for the Rivalry, Thanks to the recent full moon, I was able to put together the last few hundred of this latest thousand catches. I have to admit though, I did cheat and buy 27 stacks from the Auction

I’ve turned in 8000 of the 10,000 moat carp needed for the Rivalry. This time I bought all of the past 2000 from other fishermen and the auction house. I used pretty much every gil I’ve made selling the water clusters and rusty caps I fish up in my favor
