The Fanged One

My brother* Drupa made a triumphant return to adventuring recently. He asked me to join him on a quest offered to him by Perih Vashai (a Ranger in Windurst Woods at K-7 on the map - near the Dhalmel farm).

She asked that we go to a cave in Sauromugue Champaign (L-10 on the map) to watch an old Sabertooth die. We faithfully respected her request and found the cave in short order.

There was a pile of bones at the back of the cave and when we inspected them, we heard the footsteps of the old Sabertooth. I quickly cast Sneak and Invisible on both Drupa and myself to insure that the Sabertooth wouldn't notice us.

It was hard for me to watch the poor animal dying and sit idly by. As a White Mage my overriding urge was to heal it - but I knew I could not interfere with the course of nature. Soon, the proud beast slipped into death.

My brother and I inspected the dead Sabertooh and both of us found one of his fangs. We retuned the fangs to Perih Vashai who explained the philosophy of "the hunt" to us. She gave us her blessing as new Rangers. It was another proud moment for me as I am sure it was for Drupa.


*I use the term "brother" loosely, as Drupa is a Hume and I am an Elvaan. We are brothers by blood of course, but we are certainly brothers in arms.
